Kaitlyn and I went to a Skate night at Rock-Roll-O-Rena for a fun school function put on by the parent club. She was so excited but had never been roller skating before. I was excited yet terrified because it had been about 20 years since I had last roller skated but used to be pretty darn good and just hoped it was as the saying goes, "like riding a bike." Can't say I was super graceful, but I didn't fall at all even with Kaitlyn using me to hold her up or grab at me if she thought she was going to fall, we pretty much skated together the whole time holding hands which kept us able to skate for couples skate, lol and I even broke out the backward skating skills just so Kaitlyn and I didn't have to leave the rink when it was backward skating time. :)
We get there and get our skates, Kaitlyn saw a friend in her class and was more interested in socializing than getting the skates on but once we got them on her she couldn't even stand up, it was pretty funny, so we traded those ones in for some slow roll, roller skates and she did AWESOME on those. She could roll in them but the wheels were so tight that at times to catch up to her friends she was running on them. But perfect for her first time out. She was going pretty good when coming off of the rink and couldn't stop before she ran right into her school principal, no worries though, he thought it was hilarious and caught her so that she wouldn't fall after bouncing off of him.

Kaitlyn with her friend Audrey. They look like skating pros, but notice they both have a death grip on the wall and Kaitlyn's feet are trying to go in opposite directions. Shortly after was when we traded those skates in for the other kind |

Kaitlyn wants to go again, in fact she wanted to ask the guy that was working the skate counter if she could buy the pair she had rented for the evening because she had so much fun. I am so glad we went and had such a good time, with the slow roll skates that is a place we will definitely add to our list of things we can do in the winter time! Who wants to go?
