Some of you may know that one of Kiera's many nicknames is Bumps. Its pretty self explanatory, she wants to jump off of anything, couches, swing sets, slides, trampolines.... The girl just has no fear. I've thought about wrapping her in bubble wrap before taking outside or to the park to play.
This last incident was an ordeal, however this one was not from her being a dare devil. You see, when it's time to come inside from playing outside she is never ready to come in, she will tell us NO run the other direction or try and hide, so after 10 minutes of failed negotiations on my end I picked her up and she did not like that. Just as we were walking in the front door she threw her head back how kids do when they are throwing a fit and on the way back forward she whipped her self sideways to where her face smacked the corner of the metal front door. Her teeth took the brunt of it and it was a bloody mess for a short while. After she stopped screaming I checked her and found that one of her front teeth was loose and two of them had chips or scuffs on them. Of course it was after hours for all the dentists and being that a tooth didn't come all the way out and she didn't seem to be in pain anymore I couldn't really call it an emergency. So yesterday the dentist was able to get a look at her and take an xray. Come to find out the chips are not going to cause trouble, it was just enamel that chipped off and three teeth are loose not one, but the loosest of the bunch the upper center left is fractured above the gum line and may change colors in the next couple weeks or months. Anything from a shade darker to a bluish or purple color. I'm hoping it keeps its color or doesn't change too much. An infection is also possible and if we see any signs of that then the tooth will have to come out. So we are just to observe for now. I know they are just baby teeth, but I'm not a fan of the losing teeth stages of a kids life, if she has to go 4 or more years without a front tooth I will not be happy. Let's just hope for the best :) Oh, and if you are wondering if this incident changed her behavior when she is asked to come inside, the answer is no, she almost whacked herself yesterday evening... in the picture below they were in a good mood after bath time this morning and I was able to get this picture, you can kindof see Kiera's different looking teeth. I've tried to get better pictures incase the tooth needs to come out, but she pretty much keeps her mouth sealed shut anytime you ask about it.

one of our many humming birds that visit many times a day to grab a drink and be on their way. The girls love watching them.
