Four Wheel Frenzie

It's a blurry cell phone pic, but it's all I had at the time. This will be tons of fun when the weather gets a tad bit warmer. The girls don't mind freezing and will stay out till they cannot feel their fingers. Come on Spring!
On another note, I'm freaking out a little bit about tomorrow. My little baby will be 23 months old :( I don't like that at all. They just grow up too darn fast!

My Little Monkey

So I was straightening up the girls room and Kiera loves to play/hide in the closet. I hear a, "weeeeee." so I slide the closet door open and this is what I find. She had pushed all the clothes hanging up over or taken them off of the rod and now thinks she has her own personal monkey bar in her room. I don't know what to expect with her, she definitely keeps us on our toes. How she hasn't broken anything yet is beyond me because you can imagine with stunts like this closet acrobat she does have pretty good falls.

Does she look anything like she did? NO

Usually I post a side by side photo of the girls. One being a current one of Kiera and the other being what Kaitlyn looked like at that age. They started off looking so much alike now I don't think they have a single similar feature. Anyway, here are the girls at 22 months.

Sledding is so much fun!

Mama & Kaitlyn on their way back up

Kaitlyn, Kiera & Mama getting ready to go

Kiera slowly making her way back up

She didn't think she needed a sled, scooting on her bottom butt was fun enough

Kaitlyn hiking up... Mama falling...again

We went up to mama and papa Cheeks house for our usual Sunday visit. However shortly after getting there it started snowing. We headed over to Aunt Val and Uncle Johns house to see their new kitchen, which looks so beautiful by the way, but we only stayed for about a half hour or so because the snow was coming down at a pretty good rate. The roads in that short time got pretty slippery so I decided we'd be staying out that way for over night. That night Ryan went out to pack down the snow on part of the driveway to turn it into a mini sledding hill for Kaitlyn which we all had a bit of fun on for a while. The next day we found a great hill in the neighborhood that worked perfect for sledding, it was s bit big for Kaitlyn's first time sledding, but she road with Me or Mama Sheryl every time. There was a tiny 1ft wide by 2inch deep drainage stream at the bottom of the hill that we had not come close to touching until Kaitlyn decided she wanted to try it by herself. So my mom and I are standing at the top of the hill as Kaitlyn takes off we both noticed instantly that she was not going to stop as fast as we did when we rode with her. My 1st thoughts are... I'm not going to catch her if I run after her/ running down hills are not my strong suit, and 2. The water she might go into is more shallow than the mud and mush we were ending up in that was slowing us so I took a few steps and watched as my mom didn't give it as much thought as her instincts made her take off after Kaitlyn as if it were the Ocean at the bottom of the hill and about half way down she fell and started rolling and tumbling feet over head, I'm amazed she didn't break something. She just didn't want Kaitlyn touching the water. After laughing for a few minutes we pulled ourselves together and went down the hill a couple more times with one of us at the bottom or someone riding with her. We went back to the house to warm up and then headed back out again. The temperature had dropped for the hour we were inside so the top of the snow was starting to refreeze making it even more slick. Which leads us into the video that I have posted. I was the one standing at the bottom of the hill in case Kaitlyn had to be slowed down, but this time I was videoing as well. No I did not drop the camera, I tried to slow her down because she was headed for the water or possibly over it and when I slowed her down my leg got pushed so hard by the front of the sled it made me do a flip and tumble but I made sure not to stop videoing. It was fun, a little too cold I think it was about 11 degrees, but it was fun. And sorry mom for telling about bout your tumble down the hill, but after seeing that you weren't broken it was one of the best laughs I have had in a long time, so Thank you.

How it's supposed to go...

She made me flip...

Now maybe you can see how I flipped, she was cruising down that hill. It was no bunny slope.

Snow in a Cup

So the snow started coming down the other night. The girls really wanted to go out and play but it was nearing 9pm. So I went out and got a huge bowl of snow and then we filled cups and added a bit of juice and had real snow cones in a cup. However the girls preferred no juice, just fresh snow. I went back out and got another load and we made a little snow man inside then watched it melt, surprisingly it lasted over and hour at 73 degrees. They had a blast.
Kaitlyn is on her 2nd snow day of the week today. I think we are going to look for a small hill that they can try sledding down. I don't know how that's going to go, but it's worth a shot.

Cheers!

Something else definitely worth mentioning is that Kiera is using the potty a ton lately. Not all the time but the last few days we don't even have to ask her about it, she just stops what she's doing and takes off toward the bathroom and takes care of business she'll go #1 many times throughout the day and in the past week or so she has even went #2 a couple of times all by herself. Even at the hotel this past weekend, she hopped right on the big potty in the room. Surprised the heck out of us. We are so proud of her. We could be diaper free here very soon and this time without another one one the way to start the whole process over. Exciting times here!

Can you believe Kiera is 22 months & Kaitlyn will be 4 1/2 in a little over a week

Wow, 22 months old already! Where does the time go? I try to baby her because I don't want to let go, but at the same time I soooo look forward to the things to come.
I cannot even believe Kaitlyn is about to be 4 1/2, she'll be 5 before we know it. Both of them are doing fantastic. Kaitlyn is doing amazing and is still loving school. In fact her class was the Classroom spotlight of the month so Her picture is in the school newspaper. She was REAL excited about that. I shouldn't go here but here it goes. I dress the girl so cute every day she loves to get ready for school so it's a whole ordeal about what she's doing to wear and how her hair is. Anyway, the one day I send her in a hoodie looking casual is the day they took the picture. But she has the biggest smile on her face which just reassures me she is having a blast at school.
Kiera is also doing fabulous. she is in full blown kid stage now. Other than a few little things, she is not a baby anymore. She definitely is the one that keeps us on our toes lately trying to get into whatever she can and she is already figuring out how far she can push our buttons and she will go right up to that point than run.
Other than that we seemed to have made it through the flu or whatever it was the girls had and are looking forward to Superbowl this Sunday with hopes that James can get back in town from his trip by kick off and then Valentines Day!

I cannot beleive how proud of herself she was for this picture. She showed it to us and said, "Here I am mom, with my boys." Her class has 6, two boys are missing in the photo. Yes, she is the only girl. The class that is next door that they do a lot of things with has 8 boys. She doesn't seem to mind it though. It's Kaitlyn, she has no problem holding her own :)

A picture of Kiera passed out, she didn't feel too good.

How nice of Kaitlyn to pass it to Kiera

So we made it through the night. Poor Kiera started showing signs of not feeling so good yesterday afternoon her temp around 5pm was about 102. So she got some Motrin and we had to run somewhere. She did great through bath time but when she got out of the bath she could not maintain her body temp at all her feet and hands were purple and she was shivering so bad. So we warmed her up with blankets and after a few minutes she was ok. We noticed about a year ago when her body is fighting some type of virus or infection and a fever is present her hands and feet turn blue/purple. Anyway she threw up once then unlike her she crawled up on the couch and just laid there awake, normally she is on the go getting into whatever she can as fast as she can, so I went over and felt her and she was on fire. She had a temperature of 103.6. That was the warmest under arm reading I have ever seen (keep in mind if you take the temp under the arm you add a degree for true temperature) Plus I am so used to fighting a fever with Kaitlyn I forget how you are supposed to treat one on a kid with no medical history. So I called the doctors exchange and they reminded me that the fever is the body's natural way to fight whatever is going on in her body as as long as she isn't too uncomfortable or has no history of this and that to only give the Motrin every 6 to 8 hours and let it work its course. Aboslutely NO baths to try and cool her, I know that's what my mom and her mom and her mom did, but now it's a No No. Now, I know what a fever does, but when the number gets that high it scared me. So I took her temp every couple hours and let her sip on some ice cold pedialite. Her temp went right back up to the 102's or 103's by the time I could give her another dose. She seems to be doing much better now and hasn't had any Motrin since 4:30 this morning and her temp is just a little up and I am so relieved! You'd think with having 3 flu shots my girls would be in the clear but there is just so much going around I think it's darn near impossible. Hope you have better luck than us staying healthy!
