Time to Break out the Swim Suits

Well last Monday it was 60 degrees and rainy, this Monday was 92 degrees and sunny. This weather is crazy. Anyway, the girls have been begging to go swimming so we dug out the baby pool, which is a bit small for them, but it kept them cool and they had fun. We have been looking at larger pools this week and will decide on one today. More pics to follow of course.

wanting to splash without getting wet. The water was really cold at first.

Kaitlyn on a big slide that scared the heck out of me. Kiera went down once but had to stand and look over the side at the very top. That girl loves trying to give me heart attacks

they both got a kick out of the space shuttle

Kaitlyn posing by one of the three walls in her room decorated with her art work she makes at school. Since the year is over, I guess now is a good time to take it all down and give the room a fresh coat of paint. Finally the girls can have the pink and purple walls they have talked about forever. Do I keep all of her first artwork or pitch it? I'll probably put her very first and my favorites in a box downstairs. I know in time it will take up so much room...

There's a glimpse into this past week. Have a Safe and Fun Holiday Weekend!

Bumps did it again...

Some of you may know that one of Kiera's many nicknames is Bumps. Its pretty self explanatory, she wants to jump off of anything, couches, swing sets, slides, trampolines.... The girl just has no fear. I've thought about wrapping her in bubble wrap before taking outside or to the park to play.
This last incident was an ordeal, however this one was not from her being a dare devil. You see, when it's time to come inside from playing outside she is never ready to come in, she will tell us NO run the other direction or try and hide, so after 10 minutes of failed negotiations on my end I picked her up and she did not like that. Just as we were walking in the front door she threw her head back how kids do when they are throwing a fit and on the way back forward she whipped her self sideways to where her face smacked the corner of the metal front door. Her teeth took the brunt of it and it was a bloody mess for a short while. After she stopped screaming I checked her and found that one of her front teeth was loose and two of them had chips or scuffs on them. Of course it was after hours for all the dentists and being that a tooth didn't come all the way out and she didn't seem to be in pain anymore I couldn't really call it an emergency. So yesterday the dentist was able to get a look at her and take an xray. Come to find out the chips are not going to cause trouble, it was just enamel that chipped off and three teeth are loose not one, but the loosest of the bunch the upper center left is fractured above the gum line and may change colors in the next couple weeks or months. Anything from a shade darker to a bluish or purple color. I'm hoping it keeps its color or doesn't change too much. An infection is also possible and if we see any signs of that then the tooth will have to come out. So we are just to observe for now. I know they are just baby teeth, but I'm not a fan of the losing teeth stages of a kids life, if she has to go 4 or more years without a front tooth I will not be happy. Let's just hope for the best :) Oh, and if you are wondering if this incident changed her behavior when she is asked to come inside, the answer is no, she almost whacked herself yesterday evening... in the picture below they were in a good mood after bath time this morning and I was able to get this picture, you can kindof see Kiera's different looking teeth. I've tried to get better pictures incase the tooth needs to come out, but she pretty much keeps her mouth sealed shut anytime you ask about it.

one of our many humming birds that visit many times a day to grab a drink and be on their way. The girls love watching them.

I'm losing it

I'm not one to usually carry on about myself. I usually go on and on about my girls but this entry is all about ME :) Some of you may or may not know that these past 11 weeks I have been working really hard to get my body back in check, and as of today I am proud to say I have officially lost 30 lbs!!! It feels great, I can actually tell I am lugging less weight around and I feel a lot better about who I see when I look in the mirror. Still a ways to go, but I am pretty darn proud of myself and wanted to share the exciting news. :)

On another note tomorrow is Kaitlyn's last day of school so we will have 2 weeks to not have to work around any kind of schedule if anyone wants to go anywhere fun just let me know. I'll be trying to pack our time with new and fun things to do around town.

Kaitlyns End of The Year Celebration at School

Yesterday was Kaitlyns big end of the year bash at school. We weren't sure what to expect so Kiera, Mama and Papa Cheek, Mama Sharon and myself all walked in to find that the kids were going to be performing. Kaitlyn's class had to send in plain white t-shirts last week for them to be tie-dyed and that was all the info we got. Kaitlys class sang ABC Rock and it was very cute. They even got to wear cool little shades. Kaitlyn almost acted like Stevie Wonder during her performance and I figured out why. The sunglasses they put on the kids were so dark you could not really see anything, lol. I was so into the performance that my pictures and video aren't that good, but here is what I got. I couldn't really center on Kaitlyn because of all the other cameras up in the air. She's on the far left, in case you need help finding her. Enjoy!

Mothers Day

We had a great Mothers day. Started the day off with James and the girls then headed on up to The Cheeks house for the rest of the day. There we played out back all day and eventually got to see aunt Val and Great Grandma. I wish Mothers Day wasd every day :)

Now that Kiera can steer pretty good, Kaitlyn enjoys being pulled around and relaxing

people actually ask why we call her a monkey? Jut look at her.

Early Mothers Day Present

Lately with the nice weather, when Kaitlyn gets home from school we just go straight to the backyard to play. Thursday we did this but after a minute of swinging she whispered, "Mommy, I have something in my backpack for you." So she got this little wrapped present out of her back pack and told me that this is what she had been working so hard on at school and that she hoped I loved it. After asking her a few times if I could open it early she finally let me and what she had made me was the cutest little thing.
After I opened it she sat there and pointed every little detail out to me. It may be little but she was so proud of what she created. She showed me how she made the flower with her fingers and the bee was her thumb print and the stem of the flower was her pointer finger. Now I know what she was working on when she came home form school with blue, green, brown and yellow paint all over her hands and arms and clothes. Little surprise gifts like this make being a mom the most amazing thing in the world.
